White Queen, Cutting Celery (Apium graveolens)

Portland chefs specializing in Thai cuisine love using cutting celery (aka leaf celery or Chinese celery) but were uncertain which variety they should ask local farmers to grow, so CBN grew eight varieties and had chefs from Pok Pok, Paadee and Hat Yai evaluate them for appearance and flavor. ‘White Queen’ was chosen as the top winner with great flavor and striking beauty with a stark contrast between the glossy light green leaves and pure white hollow stems.
